Reserved-Painted Parking Guidelines

SIGN UP DATES: Monday, August 1.  Seniors  9-10am;  Juniors  1030-1130am; Sophomores 12-1 pm

PAINT DATES: Monday, Aug 8 and Tuesday, Aug 9  5-9 PM

Make plans on spending the evening with friends and family painting and eating pizza at the Reserved Parking Space Paint Party in the AHS student parking lot next to the Gym Doors.  We will have two sessions that you can choose from to paint your spot.  You will choose a painting date when you purchase your parking spot.  This is your opportunity to design and paint your own personalized spot to show your Bumblebee school spirit and class pride! The Parking Lot Paint Party is sponsored by AHS Class of 2023.

Costs: parking tag payment to AHS of $5 (which will be issued when you show up to paint.)

Seniors: $50 payment to AHS Class of 2023 for the reserved parking spot that the student will paint  (total $55)

Juniors and Sophomores: $60 payment to AHS Class of 2023 for a reserved parking spot that students will paint (total $65)

  (If you choose not to paint your spot an additional $10 fee will be added and AHS Class of 2023 will paint an Academy A on it to designate it being your reserved spot.)

All students wishing to reserve a parking space must complete the following steps: 

1. Read these Guidelines.

2. Complete the AHS Class of 2023—Reserved/Painted Parking spaces google form and submit with design.

3. You will be notified if your design was approved and then you will show up on the designated date to pay and reserve your spot.  If you are a returning reserved space holder you may request to keep your same spot.

4. If your design is not approved you will need to submit a new design and obtain approval before you can reserve a spot.

5. Print the responses (these will be emailed to you) and have the student and a parent/guardian sign the responses and return on sign-up day with a copy of the approved design and payment.

Important Information & Reminders— PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!! 

· NO SPRAY PAINT, NO GLITTER, NO CHALK PAINT,  NO CLEAR COATS ALLOWED— ONLY OUTDOOR ACRYLIC WATER-BASED PAINT ALLOWED

· STUDENTS WITH A DRIVER’S LICENSE: To be eligible to paint a reserved parking space—you must purchase an AHS parking tag with your space reservation. Bring a valid driver's license and copy of insurance with you to sign up day with payment.

· STUDENTS WITHOUT A DRIVER’S LICENSE: Students who do not have a license but will be getting one during the school year are eligible to purchase and paint a reserved parking space. You must first pay the fee to reserve and paint the space then you will purchase the parking tag when you have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. You are not allowed to park in your spot until you have a valid driver's license.

·RESERVED PARKING PAYMENT & SPACE SELECTION: Reserved parking is limited to 73 spaces and will be sold on a first come first serve basis during the times listed below for each classification.  If you are a returning reserved space holder you may request to keep your same spot. Students may not reserve a space without payment first.  Students may only purchase one space.  If students want to park beside a friend then you must show up at the same time and select spaces adjacent spaces. Students will not be permitted to switch spaces once reserved.  If you cannot make your time slot you may come to a later one but not earlier.  There are blemishes and some utility access points in some of the available parking spaces. Please look at spaces ahead of time before selecting. Sign-ups will be at the Academy High School Commons. Accepted payments: Cash, Check, or Venmo

Seniors will be able to purchase a space on  August 1 from 9am-10am

Juniors will be able to purchase a space on   August 1 from 1030-1130am

Sophomores will be able to purchase a space on August 1 from 12-1 pm

· You will need to bring the printed responses and a copy of your approved design to the painting party.  You will not be allowed to paint a space without PRIOR approval of your design.  All design sketches must be COLORED in the colors you wish to paint your space in order to be approved.

GUIDELINES FOR YOUR DESIGN– Think of your design as a t-shirt that you would wear to school.  Your spot must meet dress code approval! Keep it classy! You may include your name, jersey number, an instrument you play, your hobby, famous quotes or slogans, and anything unique to you so as it meets with the administration's approval. 

 PROHIBITED:

 No offensive language, images, inferences, pictures, symbols, etc.

No negative, foul, or rude language.

No political messages, slogans, or logos.

No gang-style tagging.

No double meanings.

No corporate or business advertising.

Only the student’s name, monogram, or initials can be painted on the spot. (No boyfriends/girlfriend/friend’s names allowed).

Get application and designs in early to allow for extra time if a design needs to be re-done. All designs must be colored on your design form to be approved.  If it is determined any time throughout the school year that your design does not meet these qualifications, the school will paint over your spot in black paint. Disciplinary action could be taken, and students may forfeit their right to use a reserved parking space and/or the privilege to drive/park on campus.

PAINT REQUIREMENTS–  You will be responsible for providing all paint and paint supplies (brushes, rollers, tape, pans, etc.) NO SPRAY PAINTS, GLITTER PAINTS, CHALK PAINT, OR CLEAR COAT PAINTS WILL BE ALLOWED. The use of any unauthorized paint will result in the forfeiture of our space and a $50 fee for cleaning.  You are only allowed to paint within the allowed area.  Paint only in the center of the space leaving a 12-inch border from the side white lines and the front and back of the parking spot. If any paint is spilled or is outside of the marked spot it will result in a fine of $50.

WHAT TO BRING–   Be sure to bring your approved colored design/sketches with you on paint day.   Also, you will be responsible for all paint, paint brushes, rollers, paint pans, and paint tape.  You will want to bring lawn chairs for your family, a canopy/umbrella, sunscreen, an ice chest, a broom to sweep space, stencils, rags for cleaning, sacks, and trash bags to transport our unused paint, a drop cloth and paint cloths.  DO NOT BRING ANY KIND OF paint sprayers, glitter, or clear coats.  AHS Class of 2023 will provide trash bags, pizza, and drinks of some kind.  Please plan on taking all trash and unused paint with you when you leave.  There will not be any trash cans available for your paint and paint supplies. 

These will be the ONLY dates that painting will be permitted and only during the designated times.

If you are unable to be there, you may send a family member or a friend to paint for you.  All painting must be completed by the end of the session.  ONLY in the case of rain will an alternate day be announced. Anyone scheduled to paint that does not show up on paint day will receive the AHS Class of 2023 Academy A in their space and an additional $10 fee will be charged before the parking tag is issued. 

DON’T FORGET TO BRING TO THE SIGN-UP DATE:  SIGNED RESPONSES, A COPY OF THE DESIGN, DRIVER'S LICENSE, PROOF OF INSURANCE, AND PAYMENT
